Biography

Josef Drexl is a Director at the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition and a Honorary Professor at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich. He also acts as the Chair of the Managing Board of the Munich Intellectual Property Law Center (MIPLC). He was elected a Member of the Bayerische Akademie der Wissenschaften. His areas of interest include international competition law; German, European and international IP law,  European and international economic law, European civil law, consumer protection, media and information law.

He was the Visiting Professor at the University of Oxford, the Libera Università degli Studi Sociali (LUISS) Guido Carli in Rome, and the New York University. He is a member of many professional associations, including Academic Society of Competition Law (ASCOLA), Association Internationale de Droit Economique (AIDE), International Academy of Comparative Law (IACL), International Association for the Advancement of Teaching and Research in Intellectual Property (ATRIP), International Law Association (ILA) and Society for European Contract Law (SECOLA).
